The cranberry sauce that we grew up with that came to the table in a perfect cylinder is no longer desirable. It’s easy to make your own sauce and you can even BBQ it up!
Easy-to-make, BBQ Cranberry Sauce
As you can see in the video below, Corinne says it’s easy to make and it only takes 5 to 10 minutes from start to finish. Add to that, there are only 3 ingredients to the tasty side-dish, topping or where-ever else you want to use this cranberry sauce.
Top Uses
Here are some suggestions on how to use this tasty cranberry topping or chutney or sauce – we are not too sure what to call it some days!
- On smoked or roasted turkey or chicken – the “classic” pairing!
- On crackers with goat cheese as an appetizer
- In a sandwich to add more flavour
- A savory topping for your peanut butter on toast
Cranberry Sauce
Ingredients
- 3 cups Cranberries – fresh or frozen whole berries
- 1/2 cup Maple syrup or brown sugar
- 1/4-1/3 cup House of Q Sugar & Spice BBQ Sauce
Instructions
- In a skillet add all the ingredients over medium heat. As the berries start to warm and the sugars melt, there will be plenty of liquid. Bring to a boil and as the berries start to burst they will release pectin and start to thicken the sauce. Use the back of a spoon to press or squeeze the berries to check if they are soft. Remove from the heat and allow to cool.
- This “chutney” can be kept in the fridge for a good period of time. Just remind yourself to use it here and there as a “secret” ingredient for whatever you are eating!
