Slow Smoked Prime Rib

Chef Tom from All Things Barbecue in Wichita, KS crafted this Slow Smoked Prime Rib recipe on his YouTube channel. It’s hard to declare it a recipe because the ingredient list is literally three items… He used one rub in his video but we are going to “House of Q-ize” it using a different rub. Watch the video below to learn the steps and how to master cooking a beef prime rib roast.

If you want to see the original recipe on All Things Barbecue, here is the link to Chef Tom’s post.

Chef Tom’s Recipe for Slow Smoked Prime Rib

Ingredients
1 (10 lb) boneless prime rib roast
House of Q Slow Smoke Gold Mustard Slather
R Butts R Smokin’ R Beef Rub (BUT!! we will do our best to objectively say that the flavour from House of Q Competition Beef Rub would be exceptional!)

Instructions
Preheat your Yoder Smokers YS640 pellet grill to 400ºF, set up for indirect grilling.

Trim the fat cap, silver skin and fat chain from the roast. Slather (love that word!!) the roast with House of Q Slow Smoke Gold. Season all surfaces with R Butts R Smokin’ R Beef Rub OR Competition Beef Rub.

Place the prime rib roast on the second shelf of the grill. Cook until the internal temperature reaches 115ºF. Rest 30 minutes before slicing.
